The Executive Director of the Banjul based Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretariat Lamin Sanneh earns a monthly salary of ten thousand United States Dollars ($10,000.00) Freedom Radio Gambia investigations have uncovered. He is one of the highest paid workers in the country. Sanneh is a former Investment Firm banker. The firm he used to work for, is located in Dubai. He is the son of Jallow Sanneh, one of the Founding Financiers of the United Democratic Party (UDP). His post was never advertized. Workers hired at the newly created OIC Secretariat were either brought in by Ousainou Darboe or the sacked Vice President Fatoumatta Jallow Tambajang. ” I think Darboe identified Lamin Sanneh because he is the son of Jallow Sanneh, one of the founding Financiers of the UDP,” said our source.
OIC Admin and Finance Director Omar Ann, the son of the former VP, earns five thousand monthly salary ($5,000.00), according to sources familiar with the OIC operations. Essa Sey, Nyang Njie and others also earned around that figure. They are paid in dollars.
It is our understanding that Essa Sey would be provided a residential home by the Secretariat. They are on the verge of securing him a home to live.
” The OIC is manned by staff that have no experience whatsoever in Conference management. Their positions were never advertised. They were handpicked. The appointments were coordinated between Darboe and Fatoumatta Jallow Tambajang,” said our source.
” And the thing is that the OIC Conference might not even happen because there is no way that the Gambia will be ready to host all those Kings and Emirs. It is not only a Conference Center that is needed; we don’t have the hotel rooms. One King can come with an entourage of up to 200,” our source added.
The OIC Executive Director Lamin Sanneh is a former staffer of Standard Chartered Bank. He later worked for ECOBank. He briefly settled in Ghana, before his Dubai Investment banking surgeon. He worked for Lootah International Investment Group Dubai before his recent appointment to head the OIC Secretariat.
Sanneh has travelled extensively during the period he has been hired to head the OIC Secretariat. A source who spoke to us, jokingly calls him the ” per diem man.”
