Momodou Tangara, the Gambian Ambassador to the United Nations is in town. He has returned for home services. He is expected to take over from Foreign Minister Ousainou Darboe today Thursday. Mr. Darboe has been appointed Vice President by President Adama Barrow. He replaces the sacked VP Fatoumatta Jallow Tambajang.
Tangara is a former Jammeh close aide and enabler. He has fought with Gambian activists in defense of dictator Jammeh prior to the change of leadership. His appointment as Foreign Minister has been widely criticized by former Gambian political activists.
Mr. Darboe’s predecessor Fatoumatta Jallow Tambajang has suddenly left the country for Switzerland without handing over her office to Mr. Darboe.
